Last weekend I went for an outing to Ooty (or Udkamandalam as it is otherwise referred as) with my husband. As this was our long planned trip we were quite excited. We were seeing our dream coming true only to find later that like a much hyped bollywood movie which shows the real face after release we too had to be bit disappointed after reaching there.
I had a different conception of Ooty in mind, but it failed to keep up to that.
Nevertheless,it was surely a relief from the hot climate of Bangalore with cool breeze which was soothing.
Good things first. Yes,it might have been a good hill station earlier or we might enjoy the beauty more in winters. Surely it can be a good break for the people who have had a long tiring week.
Places of interest include doddabetta (the second tallest peak in south India) from where you can have a telescopic view, botanical garden, superb tea estates (where a song from movie 'Sajan' has been picturised) spread over a large area and a railway track where Shahrukh dances to the tune of chaiyya chaiyya with gorgeous Malaika arora and to name a few. We get a lot of fresh flowers which we heard remain fresh for a year(i too picked up few).
Now comes the bad part. The roads are terribly bad,I wonder how come still they have not been successful in gaining attention from the tourism dept and officials. These roads overshadowed whatever little beauty we had gathered.
