New Rupee Symbol!

Congratulations to all Indians on this historical day today! Yes we have got a symbol for our currency Rupee. The symbol denotes the English letter 'R' and hindi letter 'ra' and an equal like sign representing the stable economy.

The designer of this symbol is Mr. D Uday Kumar, an IIT-ian. This design waschosen from 3000 entries received from all over the country. He will get an award of Rs(oh! i dont have the symbol in my keyboard) 2.5 lakhs for this achievement.

However, it may take an year for the new symbol to come into use through out the country. The keyboards, the mobiles all have to be designed now to incorporate this new symbol.
