We all love crunchy, mouth-watering and fried delicacies for snacking. Sure enough, we all are very much aware of the extra calories they bring along. But it is hard to resist them all the time, unless you find a healthy alternative.
Welcome to the world of healthy snacking. Yes, cornflakes are not just confined for breakfast to slim you down, you can have them as snack too. Here is a simple and instant snack you can prepare out of cornflakes, also called as Cornflakes Mixture and store them to binge on, whenever you want to satisfy your craving. Yes, kids will surely love them too!
Ingredients:
Cornflakes - 2 cups
Green chillies - 2,3 slit lengthwise
Red chillies - 2
Groundnut - 2 spoon
Curry leaves
Mustard
Cashew nuts (optional)
Aamchur powder (dry mango powder) - a pinch
Oil - 1tbsp
Sugar - half tbsp
Procedure:
1. Dry roast the corn flakes in a thick bottom pan for 5 min to make them crispy. No need to add oil.
2. Remove them and keep aside. Now put oil and keep adding the ingredients one by one - mustard, curry leaves, groundnuts, green chillies, red chillies and salt. Fry them for couple of minutes.
3. Add cornflakes, mix well, sprinkle aamchur powder and sugar. Adjust the seasoning. Remove from heat after 2-3 minutes
4. Allow it to cool and store in an air-tight container.
(Note : If you are preparing it for the kids, you can omit chillies or use very less. Kids would love the crunchiness, chillies may spoil their taste.)
