Today, the 26th of July is observed as Kargil Vijay Diwas through out the country to commemorate India's victory over Pakistan at Kargil (J & K) in 1999.
We salute the Kargil War Heros and Martyres who laid down their lives for the sake of our motherland. The Kargil War was fought for more than 60 days during May - July in harsh weather conditions which ended on July 26th 1999.
On this day India took control over all the positions occupied by Pakistani Army.
527 Indian soldiers sacrificed their lives and made Operation Vijay a success.
Let us take few moments to remember the supreme sacrifice of our brave soldiers. Read the story of Lt.Saurabh Kalia and his five member team who were captured by Pakistani intruders in Kargil. Their mutilated dead bodies were returned to India after torturing them for almost 22 days.
