Warli Mania

Yes! warli mania has gotten into me. I am totally in love with warli painting. Since my first warli painting on a coffee mug and then a warli frame, I just cant stop myself from painting. This is a vase I made from a bottle cover. Googled for various warli motifs and have tried to represent the celebration scene of the warli tribe. (Am not happy with the way the photos have come though!)

Recycled Art - A Vase from old Calendar

It's been long since I made any recycled craft project. Found an old calendar last week while searching for some stuffs. And my hands started itching. Itching to convert that trash into some useful stuff. In the meanwhile I had collected some lovely peacock feathers.
So thought of making a vase for these feathers. Aren't these feathers beautiful?

Follow these easy steps for this DIY project
Materials Required:
Calendar sheets
Glue
Used water bottle (or any container in round shape)
Used CD

Step 1 : Cut the calendar sheet into half (if the sheet is very thin)or three or four equal pieces depending on the thickness and size of the sheet.

Step 2: Roll them and apply glue. They will become hard rolls like these

Step 3: Take an used water bottle or any container and cover it with a sheet. Give a hard base to it. I have used an old CD here.

Step 4: Start sticking the rolls one after the other applying sufficient glue lengthwise and also to the base. Applying glue on the adjacent roll to hold it tight.

Step 5: Finish the entire circumference with rolls. If you wish you can paint them with the color of your choice. Else keep it as it is to give a natural look.

A beautiful Vase is ready!

Recycled Art - Vases

Continuing in the series of Recycled Art, here is a pair of beautiful and creative vases(at least I think so ;)). As you must have guessed it, they have evolved from the empty ketchup/sauce bottles. These bottles are thick and strong, so I couldn't afford to waste them simply.

Recycled Art - Vases

The process is simple.
1. Wash the empty bottle. Remove the wrapper

2. Let your creativity flow. Paint the bottle with a base color. Then paint any artistic design that comes to your mind . If you are not into painting, you can even stick a beautiful gift wrapper or an old invitation card ( one more thing gets recycled!)

3. My version looks like this. You can just keep them as they are or flowers will surely add beauty. Here I have taken some old metal wires and have coiled them.

Recycled Art

I normally give a second thought before throwing away any household items that are no more needed. If my creative mind says yes it can be converted to some useful form of art or craft i go ahead recycling it.
Last week, while winding up the party at home, i found two water glasses cracked.

By just using black and white sheets of paper i could give a decent shape and design to the glasses. And here is the final product.

I feel recycling is not only good for the environment,it also enhances the creative part of you!
