Super Over and IPL6 Points Table - 7th April '13

Did you switch off your TV sets last night after the tie match between Royal Challengers and Sunrisers Hyderabad? I had no idea about the Super over till now and when I was about to turn off disappointedly,   this Super Over popped up.
The match was extended by an over as per the Super Over Rule for the Tie breaker.
Unfortunately this over couldn't do magic for RCB

What is this Super Over in IPL?
In simple words, when a Twenty20 match ends in a 'Draw', each team is given an extra over to play guided by some strict rules. This rule is also known as One Over Eliminator.

Rules of Super Over

1. Subject to weather conditions, Super Over will take place on the scheduled day of the match at a time to be determined by the referee. In normal circumstances it shall commence within 5 minutes after the conclusion of the match.

2. Super over will take place on the same pitch allocated for the match (the designated pitch) unless otherwise determined by the umpires in consultation with the ground authority and the Match referee.

3. Prior to the commencement of super over, each team elects three batsmen and one bowler and nominated players are given in writing to match referee.

4. For the super over rule, umpires select which end to bowl from and both teams use the end to bowl & bat their over . And, each umpire shall stand at the same end at which they finished the match.

5. No field restriction is in place during super over.. that is, 5 fielders outside 30 yard circle can be set but at least 4 fielders have to be inside that same circle. no catching fielder is mandatory.

6. Team batting second in the match will bat first in the one over eliminator.

7. The same ball (or a ball of a similar age if the original ball is out of shape) as used at the end of the team’s innings shall be used for the “extra” over.

8. The loss of two wickets in the over ends the team’s one over innings.

9. In the event of the teams having the same score after super over has been completed, the team that hit the most number of sixes combined from its two innings in both the main match and the super over shall be the winner

10. If the number sixes hit by both teams is equal, the team whose batsmen score the most number fours in its two innings (main innings + super over) will be the match winner.

It has happened again. Teams have lost matches in their home grounds last night. While Rain, Light and Gayle played spoilsport for Royal Challengers against Mumbai Indians, it was the last ball decider which went in favor of Chennai Super Kings against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Now when the playoffs are so close can RCB make it to the top 4?

Here is an interesting Points Table after an easy win by Royal Challengers Bangalore against Mumbai Indians last night.
RCB has jumped to position 4 after this comprehensive win. They have returned to their good form with all the departments doing good. A tough competition now to enter the playoffs

The champions of IPL2, the Deccan Chargers are successfully holding their bottom position intact this season ;)

They were beaten comfortably by Dhoni's men in a rather disappointing match last night. Cameron White's brilliant 77 off 53 balls went in vain. Top 4 Teams will qualify for the play-offs

So, finally Deccan Chargers have registered their first win this season. They beat Pune Warriors India last night in an exciting match. The highlight of the match was the power packed innings from Cameron White. A big dissapointment for Dada's team in front of their home crowd.

Royal Challengers got their much awaited win beating Pune Warriors in a sensational match last night(17/04/12). There is not much hike in their position in the points table, but it has boosted their morale for sure and of RCB fans like me ;)
